Take Care of Your Skin This Winter

Take Care of Your Skin This Winter

As the mercury plummets, your skin starts to feel itchy and irritated. You step in from the cold, blustery weather outside and crank up the heater on high indoors. Your skin is crying for relief – it feels dry and depleted of natural oils. How do you keep it soft and supple this winter? We’re glad you asked!

Keep the showers short

As much as you hate having to get out of that hot shower, don’t dilly-dally. It’s better for your skin (and the environment!), that you keep your shower to under five minutes. Make sure the water is not too hot so that you don’t strip away the skin’s natural oils. Don’t forget to use an enriching cleanser.

Our recommendation:

Stay hydrated

Although the cold weather doesn’t make you thirsty, it’s important to keep hydrated. While water is best, if you find it too “boring”, you can drink herbal tea or flavour your water with fruit/vegetables like cucumber, lemon, watermelon, mint, etc. If your face is feeling stretched and taut, try a nourishing facial oil.

Our recommendation:

Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise

Moisturisers rehydrate your skin’s epidermis (outer layer) and seal in moisture to combat dry skin. But not all moisturisers are created equal. Invest in a good quality moisturiser free from any harsh chemicals that pampers and protects your skin. The best time to slather on moisturiser? Straight after a shower so that it can seep into those open pores.
